                                                                          My Practice

I have maintained an active private practice successfully treating children, teens, adults and couples in Walnut Creek since 1989.
I've acquired the training, insight and compassion to understand the scope of people's problems, get to the bottom of their issues quickly, and make a real positive difference in their lives.

With 30 years of clinical experience, I understand the perspectives of both men and women, children and parents, CEOs and homemakers alike. I have expertise working with challenges that may arise throughout one's life cycle, including:
  • Childhood, Adolescent, Parent and Family Problems (go to the "child, teen and family" page)
  • Depression, Bipolar and Mood Disorders
  • Anxiety, Panic, Phobias, Post-Traumatic Stress and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
  • Eating Disorders, Addiction, and Self-Destructive Behavior
  • Childhood Trauma (Sexual and Physical Abuse, Incest, ACA)
  • Problems with Relationships, Intimacy and Sexuality, Sexual Dysfunction, Fetishes
  • Problems with Fertility, Pregnancy, Post Partum Depression, PMS, Empty Nest and Menopause
  • Marital Issues: Communication, Sexuality, Parenting, Infidelity, Divorce

  • Loss and Grief, Illness, Care-taking, Aging, Spirituality

The Treatment Plan:

We will work together to form goals and design a treatment plan that is most efficient and effective for you and your family. I am practical and considerate of your time and money. Because of the breadth of my clinical training and personal flexibility, I draw from a wide range of therapeutic techniques. I strive to provide the most current and successful treatments, tailored to meet your goals and personal needs.
   I provide:
  • short and long term psychodynamic psychotherapy
  • cognitive behavioral therapy
  • mind/body work (imagery, hypnosis, and breathing techniques)
  • family and systems work, child/teen therapy, and couples therapy
  • depth-oriented psychoanalytic psychotherapy and dream analysis.

How it works:

Through the privacy, intimacy and safety of the therapeutic relationship, I help people to find the courage and strength to address and work through their problems. I help them to identify and mobilize their resources, find new solutions, and develop the tools and skills to they need to overcome their obstacles, make changes and reach their potentials.

Sometimes all you need is a session or two to gain some clarity. But my forte is my capacity to get to the underlying roots of people's deeper psychological problems. By understanding unconscious conflict and turmoil, I am able to identify the cause of irrational thoughts, unhealthy behavior and suffering. It is often necessary to explore early experiences and trauma to ease long term suffering and help to heal old bruises and deep wounds. By revealing developmental blocks, unconscious assumptions and negative patterns, I am able to help my patients see and experience themselves in a healthier way. Patients who are able to pursue this form of therapy with me can achieve deeper and longer lasting changes in their personalities and behavior, learn to form successful relationships, and to discover their individual potentials.

With all humility, I am committed to helping you. If that means helping you find a different clinician who might be able to help you more than I can, I am happy to do that.
