Does my child need help?
How does therapy work?

Hello and thank you for visiting my site.

Choosing to reach out for help is a big decision.
Finding the right psychologist for you makes all the difference.
I hope my site helps you in this process.

My name is Dr. Karyn Goldberg-Boltz.

With over 20 years of private practice, I am able to quickly understand the problems people bring to me, help them find hope, clarity and balance,
overcome their hurts and fears,
and make deep changes to achieve their
goals for wellness and success.

While my professional credentials and training
are noteworthy, my patients tell me that it is my
"warm, engaging" personality and "intelligent,
interactive" professional style that generate the
trust, confidence and success that they enjoy.

So while I will attempt to describe myself below,
ultimately, scheduling an initial appointment to
actually meet with me and see how I think and
work, will be the best way for you to determine
how much I can help you and your family.

In a nutshell: I'm sincere, open and non-judgmental, and adept at putting my patients--men, women, teens, children and couples--at ease. With respect, compassion and humor, I will help you discuss your challenges, understand your obstacles, and develop the resources to overcome them.

My specialty is getting to the heart of your issues quickly: understanding the cause of your problems and the symptoms and conflicts that result, and knowing how best to help you work through them.
I work with you, integrating a wide range of traditional and state of the art therapeutic techniques to provide the most effective treatment plan for your needs. While I address core issues, I also strive to provide quick, practical solutions, and to use your time and resources as efficiently as possible.

I help people heal old wounds, work through their painful emotions, and overcome their negative patterns and self-destructive behavior. I strive to help them decrease stress and conflict and increase communication, intimacy and sexuality with loved ones.
I teach parents to understand their children and teens behavior and learn strategies to help them improve; and I help teens to better understand and communicate with their parents, and to use good judgement in navigating the challenges of their social environment and this difficult and confusing time of life. I also promote mind/body health and spirituality, and seek to improve balance, joy and harmony in families and intimate relationships.

Outside of my practice, I served as President of the Contra Costa Chapter of the California Psychological Association for two years and have served on the Board of Directors for 10 years. In January, 2009, I received a Diamond Award for my "Outstanding Service to the Profession of Psychology" from CCPA.
