| Training and Experience
I was fortunate to have discovered my calling for this field in my teens and to pursue a strong academic foundation. I completed my B.S. at U.C. Berkeley with High Honors in 1981, and my Ph.D. at California School of Professional Psychology, L.A, in 1986. I had the privilege of studying an array of clinical modalities, and training in a wide variety of clinical settings to understand the full spectrum psychological illness and its treatment.
I did a full time APA approved internship at Didi Hirsch Community Mental Health Center, where I worked with family systems, crisis intervention and was involved in a consortium for incest and sexual abuse. My dissertation was a study on self-esteem and family boundaries.
After earning my Ph.D., I continued with a two year postdoctoral fellowship at Reiss-Davis Child Study Center, to specialize in working with children, parents and families, psychoanalytic psychotherapy and psychological assessment. During that time I also worked as a psychological assistant in private practice in Beverly Hills, CA.
I was licensed in 1989, and moved to the Bay Area, serving as Staff Psychologist/Director of Training at Children's Hospital, S.F, AIRS program, where I developed the psychology internship program.
In 1991, I opened my private practice in Walnut Creek and am very grateful to have had the privilege of working with and helping people for 20 years . | |
